‘Colourful Port’ is this year’s theme, highlighting various colourful aspects of the port. Such as a focus on the many goods and services, the colourful nature in the port, the colourful architecture in the port and in the city, and on the many different jobs and international connections that the port and the city provide.
Don’t miss out on the excursions. These fully organised trips take you by bus, boat, train or bike to one of the many companies located in the port of Rotterdam.
How to buy your excursion tickets
- Internet ticket sales start Monday August 25 at 10 am. Check the programme for excursions in English.
- From Thursday September 4th until Sunday September 7th, there will be a designated desk at the floating house to buy tickets. You can find the floating house in the Rijnhaven.
Opening hours for the info point ticketdesk:
September 4: 10 am to 12 am.
September 5, 6 and 7: 8 am to 6 pm.
- Excursion programmes and times are subject to change.
- Duration of excursions is an approximation.
- Once purchased, tickets cannot be returned.
- Using your own transportation to visit companies in the port is permitted only where specifically stated.
- Identification required at all times.
All bus excursions leave from Veemstraat, near the floating house in the Rijnhaven.
Accessibility of the port
Wheelchair-accessible excursions can be recognised by a symbol. Most of the excursions, especially excursions by bus, continue by foot on the company grounds. Please note that most of the company buildings have stairs as well.

During the World Port Days, the River Maas quays are the centre of all events. The location is the Scheepvaartkwartier (Parkkade, Westerkade, Veerhaven, Willemskade and Willemsplein), Boompjes, Wilhelminapier and Rijnhaven. At these locations, companies and organisations related to the port of Rotterdam will present themselves, along with interesting projects and spectacular demonstrations. Many of them bring along impressive equipment and working vessels that are open to visit. Presentations, demonstrations and ships can be visited for free on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Check the map below for the event area and the many different companies and organisations.
Breathtaking stunts, spectacular acts, power and nautical skills. With the water programme, Rotterdam shows what it’s made of. Experience this from the Erasmusbrug or Willemskade. Viewing stands will be set up at the Wilhelminakade on Friday and Sunday so you can sit down and watch. The schedule of the nautical demonstrations is below. This contains all dates and times for every demonstration.
Enjoy the opening ceremony with a fascinating colourful act and water show. The show will be held on the River Maas on Friday September 6 at 2 pm.
Don’t miss the Saturday night programme with great music, festivities on the river Maas, light shows and a breath-taking fireworks show. The show starts at 9 pm on Saturday September 6.
The World Port Days 2014 will close officially on Sunday afternoon with a festive show on the water. The show is filled with surprises and will be well worth your time. So make sure not to miss it! The closing performance starts at 5 pm on Sunday September 7.
The Rotterdam World Port Days has arranged accommodation specials together with a select group of hotels. Check our website for the hotel specials.
The event location is not accessible by car. Please use of public transport instead. You can park your car at the P+R sites just outside Rotterdam city centre and get transfers there.
The metro and tram are fast, reliable ways to travel to the event. Travelling by public transport requires an OV-chipcard (public transport smart card). Day cards are available at all metrostations and RET service points. For more information, visit www.ret.nl.
