The theme of the World Port Days 2018 has been announced!
Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe. It plays a crucial role for the Netherlands, but is also an example to the rest of the world. That is why the city not only puts all of its energy into the port, but also gets an increasing amount of sustainable energy out of it. For this reason, the theme for the upcoming World Port Days is ‘Energize!’ The organization wants to use this theme to raise awareness of the sustainable ambitions of Rotterdam, to become the cleanest port in the world.
With this theme, the organization is calling on participating companies and organizations to show their most sustainable side. The port has gathered plenty of knowledge of renewable energy, CO2 reduction and capture. In addition, it is striving for a greater use of alternative energy sources in various areas. During the World Port Days, visitors can learn more about these sustainable innovations. What’s more, visitors will also get to watch the usual public programme on and around the water.
The World Port Days 2018 will take place on 7, 8 and 9 September. The largest annual maritime event in the Netherlands is organized on the quays around the Erasmus Bridge and there will be excursions moving deeper into the port. Visitors can enjoy an extensive cultural programme, as well as ship viewings, demonstrations on the water and presentations by port authorities.
